Erin Markey (they/them) is a “hilariously sociopathic” (New York Times) Brooklyn-based actor and writer/creator/composer of plays, musicals, and songs for VR games. Catch Erin on HBO’s High Maintenance Season 3 and TruTV’s At Home with Amy Sedaris Season 2. Erin is currently developing a new performance project, Little Surfer, which is a New York Voices Commission at the Public Theater, where they frequently perform at Joe’s Pub. They have written songs for Tender Claws VR games The Under Presents and the upcoming Scottsdale. Markey has been a member of Half Straddle Theater Company since 2009, and most recently co-composed music for and performed in Ghost Rings (NY Live Arts). They also starred in Daniel Kaufman’s short film Run/On (SXSW 2020).
Their shows have toured nationally and internationally to ART (Cambridge, MA), The Yard Theater (London, UK), FringeArts (Philadelphia, PA), Luminato Festival (Toronto, ON), PICA’s TBA Festival (Portland, OR), Fierce Festival (Birmingham, UK), Fusebox Festival (Austin, TX), San Francisco Film Society and more. Markey’s most recent music/theater works include Boner Killer (Under the Radar Festival at the Public Theater), A Ride On The Irish Cream (American Realness Festival at Abrons Arts Center) and Singlet (Bushwick Starr). Their short play, Siobhan’s Wheel World was recently published in The Brooklyn Rail.
